Hi From England. Thank you for adding me to the group. Sorry I do not speak very good German.
I want to replace the bearing "C" and to do this I think I need to pull part "A" (I do not know the name for this) from the end of the crankshaft "B" (See picture).
Does anyone know if it should pull off with a puller? It is very tight.
I have just bought the bike, it is imported from Japan.
The engine does sound good but, when I ride it, it makes a noise that sounds like a bearing has worn out. At first i thought it was the camshaft but this seems a good fit. I pulled the rest of the engine apart and the big end is okay. I thought there was a problem with the main bearing as I could feel it move. But, when I took off the rotor I could no longer feel any problem. Now I am wondering if it is the balancer shaft? The weight is a loose fit on the shaft.
You can easily let the engine run / test without balancer. Just don’t put back the drive gear underneath the flywheel. Could be there’s corrosion pitting at one of the bearings. Very difficult to see and identify sometimes. But rather unusual. However japanese used bikes and parts are often a different subject due to the salty air - at least one the exposed side. Unlikely that other German Estrella brothers can guide you specifically on that issue you reported.
What kind of noise are you talking? Let me tell you that BJ250 engines run a bit rough in general. That’s standard up to a certain level...
In case the noise is no there @ idle and higher rpm in neutral gear it acutally does not point at a bearing issue as that problem would constantly produce noise. If under load only and not too loud it could be normal.
Have a look at the contact pattern of the upper con rod eye. I have seen terribly machined pieces that could cause knocking sound.
Where did you buy the import? Bridgemoto / Spencer Chaplin from Suffolk by any chance?
I bought the bike on eBay I have wanted one for a long time as I like British bikes. I was the only bidder ans paid euro 1500. which is very cheap in this country.
Where I bought the bike is an interesting story. The address was on a airfield near Guildford. I did not know the place. When I went I realised it was the place they used to film Top Gear. if you look at the picture of mu bike I have added an arrow to the hanger where the show was filmed.
Whilst I was there I also bought two other bikes. One of them was from East Germany(DDR) and made in 1956. It is an AWO 425 racer (You may think it is a BMW). I have added a picture of that too.
